Admission
All
members and guest must observe current admission procedures. Guest, who resides
within a 25-mile radius of Christiansburg, must pay the guest fee for the day and are limited to 4 visits per month. The Board of Directors may waive the four-visit limit for special circumstances
– babysitters, etc. Members seeking a waiver should send a letter of explanation
to the Board.
Children under 12 years of age are not permitted on the premises
unless accompanied by a parent, or a person 16 years of age or older, designated by the parent. If the person designated is a non-member and wearing swimming attire, they must pay the guest fee.
Anyone
aiding an unauthorized person to enter the pool will be suspended for a minimum of two weeks.
Safety
Lifeguards
watching the pool must concentrate on the pool area and should not be approached by members other than to report situations
involving safety that requires immediate attention. All other questions and comments
should be directed to lifeguards in the lifeguard house.
Lifeguard
duties extend primarily to the main pool. Children in the baby pool must be accompanied
or directly observed at all times by a parent or a person 16 years of age or older, designated by the parent. Children over 7 are not allowed to play in the baby pool except when supervising or playing with younger
members of their family.
ALL NON-SIMMING CHILDREN UNDER 8 YEARS OF AGE MUST BE ACCOMPAINED BY A RESPONSIBLE
ADULT IN THE MAIN POOL. The adult MUST be in the water or at the edge of the
pool. “SWIMMIES ‘ AND “WATER WINGS’ are not designed
to keep the child’s head above the water and are not recommended. Accompanied
children may wear Coast Guard approved life jackets or other lifeguard approved personal floatation devices.
Lifeguards can require children to demonstrate the required swimming
ability necessary to be allowed unaccompanied in certain areas in the main pool.
NON-SWIMMERS
may use the sliding board and diving boards ONLY with direct adult supervision in the pool.
Members shall be completely
responsible for all actions of their children and guest. Lifeguards are not baby-sitters
and are not hired to watch children on an individual basis. Ridgewood Swim Club
is not responsible for any loss of property by any members or guest.
Pool hours are set by the RWSC Board of Directors and are subject to change. The Pool Manager may close the facilities in the interest of safety and/or economy when weather conditions
are not conducive for swimming (rain, cold, high winds, lighting, thunder, etc.)
There will be a 15-minute
adult swim/rest period 15 minutes to the hour, every hour. The Pool Manager has
the right to not call adult swim at their discretion.
Running, dangerous play and roughness are not permitted on the premises. Any person, committing acts of vandalism, malicious mischief, or improper conduct
will be refused admission to the premises for a period determined by the Pool Manager and Board of Directors.
Any person called down three times in one day for inappropriate behavior will be asked to leave for the
day. If a person is asked to leave three times in one pool season, the Board
of Directors will review their behavior and they will not be permitted on the premises without parental supervision.
Only RWSC Employees are allowed in the Guard Station, Manager Office, Pump House, Guard Stands, and the
Snack Shack.
All lost and found items will be kept for a period of 2 weeks. Unclaimed
items will be discarded or given away.
Rules may be added or changed as needed. Comments should be
directed to the Pool Manager or Board of Directors.
The lifeguards will clear the pool immediately in the event of inclement weather and emergency situations. The signal for this action is one long blast of the whistle. The pool and deck area will be cleared immediately at the first sign of heavy rain, thunder, and lightening. NO ONE IS ALLOWED BACK INTO THE POOL FOR 30 MINUTES AFTER THE LAST SIGN OF THUNDER
OR LIGHTINING. ALL POOL PATRONS DURING THIS TIME MUST STAY CLEAR OF THE WATER
AND WEAR SHOES.
Persons with contagious diseases, open wounds, or infectious conditions will not be allowed in the pool
area.
WATER GUNS, SKATEBOARDS,
ROLLER BLADES, & HEELIES ARE NOT ALLOWED AT RWSC.
**No one may climb the
fence at any time.
Inner tubes, rafts, balls, and other pool toys are permitted only at the discretion of the Pool Manager
and lifeguards; inner tubes and rafts may NOT be used when four (4) lifeguards are on rotation. The number of people in the pool, behavior of user and other conditions will affect when certain activities
will be allowed. Lifeguards may confiscate items from people not following instructions.
All
trash, cigarette butts and recyclable items must be deposited in proper containers.
There is no smoking in the inside of the fenced area. Smokers may smoke
at the area before the front gate.
Alcoholic beverages,
glass containers, weapons of any kind, and pets are not allowed on the premises.
